when I first started my business. I felt everything was up to me and I worked
60-70 hour weeks in my business. I slept, ate and drank business. I didn’t
know who I was outside of it.
Did it help? Did it make me rich? No, it made me tired, overwhelmed and
irritable. Not until I started following my passion, working with my strengths,
delegating, and forming collaborative relationships, did my business take off.
As it did, I became happier and healthier.
As Light Bearers, we can make a difference in the world around us. But not until we learn to work collaboratively with others, will we create the impact
we’re capable of making on the world.
Collaboration is the root of and the key to my success. There’s a transference
of skills, knowledge and wisdom that happens when you collaborate. While I went
to college for information management, every other skill, knowledge or area of
wisdom I’ve developed over the years has come through collaboration. I’ve
honed programming, writing and marketing skills all through collaboration. The
people I collaborated with taught me these things and much more. Their light
rubbed off on me!
When I started my business, I had no money to hire anyone. I chose the “do it
yourself” method, because I had no choice. My husband was unemployed, and we
had two small children at home. Through relationships and collaboration, I
quickly went from teaching computer software to individuals in a spare bedroom
of my home to programming case sales tracking systems for Coca-Cola and large
manufacturing concerns – all through the power of relationships.
From there I went on to build one of the largest and longest running
collaborative content directories on the internet.
